Who took my toy?????

Addyson and Braden have been busy playing together this week.
Everything is so exciting to touch, grab, and play with! We had our first fight! They both want the same toys. They were both pulling on the chicken. Addyson was crying and looking at me like she was so mad and Braden was grunting. He is quite the toy stealer and if he doesn't get it he can always just roll on top of her and make her mad. She's also quite good at toy stealing. They are pretty funny to watch because they have really started reaching for toys and playing together a lot.
We tried sippy cups this week. Braden is getting pretty good and loves his apple juice! Addyson isn't really supposed to be drinking much juice because she needs to be getting calories from her milk and food. We have tried peas and green beans this week. Braden isn't a huge fan of peas but he still eats them up - Addyson really likes them and she's starting to down her cereal really well too. We'll be starting fruits soon!!!!

Braden has been spending quality time with his daddy in the evenings. He likes to sit with daddy and watch the Yankees or whatever else is on TV. Then he falls asleep and snuggles with his daddy. He did NOT like the one evening Ryan was able to be in the fields and he was stuck with mommy. He didn't like the idea of sleeping in his crib for his evening nap. It could be fun once things dry off and Ryan is gone a lot again - but oh well. It's super cute to see the boys having fun together.
And Addyson has sort of turned into a mommy's girl for the moment. Which is totally opposite to how the kids have been since they were born. She has big smiles for me and wants to be held and to play with me when usually she just wanted to play with daddy. So that's fun for a change!

The kids got their first RSV shot. I am so thankful for a home health nurse who will come by monthly to give them their shots so we don't have to go to the doctor to get them where they would be exposed to other sick kids. We're so grateful for that! I was reading the info that we got for their shots and it told a lot about RSV and how it affects babies that were born early or with low birth weights. I take for granted that our kids are doing so well and looking so healthy, but their lungs are still not strong and would be devastated by respiratory infections, especially severe ones. Just a reminder to be thankful for how well we've been able to stay and grateful that the Lord is protecting them from all the germs I can't stop!!!

That's what's been happening at our house lately - here are some more recent pics.

Some brotherly love

Growing, growing!

Today Addyson had her weight check at the pediatrician and both kids got the second part of their regular flu shot. Insurance also approved the RSV shots for both kids for November through March - this is huge great big news!! They both had 1 shot in March before they left NICU and we were told they wouldn't get them this winter because they would be too old to be approved by insurance. I follow a blog of a family with preemie twin boys that were also born at 30 weeks in the middle of February so they're just a couple weeks older than ours. They were denied the shots so we are especially grateful that we were approved. At $1500 per monthly shot per kid it's not something we'd want to pay for ourselves!! So they'll get their first shot in November. And the H1N1 shots as soon as the office gets them. This eases our minds a little. There is so much sickness going around early this season and our little ones are still high risk especially for these viruses so we'll be sticking pretty close to home. At the pediatrician's office today all the older kids were wearing masks. It looked like something you would see in a movie with some insane pandemic - crazy! We're trusting God to keep them well - they've already survived a cold that I had - and doing what we can to keep things safe for them. So if you see us pulling our kids away or swatting at hands that just must touch our babies don't be too surprised or hurt. We have to keep them safe - we do NOT want to spend any more time in the hospital!!!

Last week we went with Ryan for a short trip in the semi so we got all bundled up - our winter coats are a little big but it's a long time until spring!

So as for the results of the trip to the doctor -- Addyson now weighs 10 pounds 8 ounces and is 23 inches long. Braden weighs 17 pounds 10 ounces. We didn't get a length on him since he wasn't really there for an appointment--just a shot. In other big news Addyson can sleep as long as she wants to at night! We are able to let her do what she wants to do as far as eating goes (as if we really had any control over her anyway). She is doing well with her weight gain so we won't have to stick to a strict schedule. So you can pray for me to be able to live without the schedule that has kept my life going for the last 7 1/2 months! We'll see how much sleep I get tonight - they might both sleep through the night! Addyson doesn't have to go back to the doctor until our 9 month check up in December. We'll just have her weight checked at home to make sure she's staying on track.

This week we'll be starting green vegetables and Braden is ready to start trying some juice in a sippy cup. What big kids they're turning into. They are loving to sit up (still with help) and play. They love to grab and hold anything they can find. Addyson especially loves to touch and grab faces - she is so hilarious these days. Their personalities are really starting to show! Braden still loves to snuggle and smile and giggle. He is really starting to love to spend time with his daddy and Addyson and I are getting to be good friends since we don't have to fight each other over eating with both of our stubborn personalities working! And they are really paying attention to each other. We are learning to share already - no big fights yet but they always seem to want the same toy! Here are some pics of them playing together!

7 Months Old

At our last weight check Addyson weighs over 10 pounds and Braden weighs over 17. We like squash, sweet potatos, and carrots!! We are now 7 months old!!!!

Addyson and Braden are both spending lots of time playing on their tummies. They both like to reach for faces and hair now and are having lots of fun playing together. Braden is SO close to being able to sit up on his own. They get themselves stuck all kinds of places! They are rolling all over the place.

We've been spending time with Ryan in the combine and tractor as he's busy with fall harvest and wheat sewing. Braden LOVES spending time with his dad farming and being outside. The other night when Ryan was cutting beans Braden was sitting on his lap in the combine. He looked down and Braden had grabbed on to the steering wheel. He was smiling and totally concentrating on what was happening outside. He was cooing and having a great time. He has spent some one-on-one time with Ryan in the combine while Addyson and I have had our own girl time. I took her to Dillon's for some grocery shopping and she did awesome. Life with one baby seems like a breeze! It was fun for a while but we sure missed the boys! I can't imagine how boring life would be without both of them to entertain me!

Here they are playing in their cribs which is how I find them most mornings! Check out their beautiful blue eyes which should be here to stay!!
