Colorado Family Vacation - Part 1

We were SO tired of the heat a couple weeks ago and decided it was time to head for cooler temperatures!!! So on the coolest, rainiest Kansas day we've had in a long time we went on our first road trip vacation with the kids!!

We made sure to get a healthy start to our day by eating a bunch of donut holes! Braden helped us clean up every last one!!

We loaded the Acura and we were on our way!

We discovered that Addyson really likes to eat jerky. And it's such a great snack for the car - no crumbs, lasts a while since you have to keep chewing, and it's not sugary!!! And of course Braden and Daddy like it too!!

We watched Finding Nemo and Bambi on the DVD player in the car - two of the kids most favorite movies!!! They really did well traveling and found things to do to keep busy! Thankfully I-70 has plenty of hay bales, cattle, and horses for Braden to spot. Addyson was more creative!!

Braden's new friend, Ribbit (his potty chair), made the trip with us! Pretty convenient when you can stop wherever you need to and have a clean place to do your business!

They took great naps while we were driving. We made it to Denver the first night.

They spent the first night ever in a hotel. This was a big step for us. No matter how clean they are, hotels seem like germy places - and with the germophobes we became when Addyson and Braden were tiny preemies we've put it off for a long time!!! The kids had a great time - Ryan and I had to just let go!!

We stayed pretty close to the airport and you could watch planes taking off out our hotel window which was fun! They loved riding the luggage cart up and down.

The elevator (or ella-gator as Addyson called it) was a big hit too.

And of course swimming is always fun!

Addyson loved all the new experiences, but it took Braden a while to adjust to every change. He is pretty content to be at home, or outside with daddy and is pretty nervous around new places and people -- but Addyson was having a super great time pretty much anywhere we went! Oh, how different they are.

More pictures to come!!
