Addyson and Braden were anxious to "help" Karina with her gifts.
Braden reached down into her stocking to get her gift. A rattle we bought for her in Russia. It is one of her favorite toys still.
She also got some Russian blocks that I think are pretty fun - but all she wants to do is eat them at this point!
She still had not gotten to her birthday presents yet. Even if they did make a trip to Russia and back!
So we opened those - she got a little security blanket with taggies on it and another toy from Russia.
A couple days later we finally got around to doing her birthday cake. She had been sick and we were just surviving at that point. By the way, please excuse my crazy hair and no makeup self. Like I said, we were in survival mode and I was just happy to have made it out of my PJ's!! I was not concentrating on winning any beauty pageants, but just making sure we were all alive at the end of the day!!
We lit her candle and sang to her.
She wasn't sure about all of that.
Braden helped her blow out her candle.
And she tried some of her cake.
She was not a fan!!! The first few times she tried sweets she was not interested. I don't think she'd ever had dessert before!!!
I can assure that has since changed. She now loves sweets as much as the rest of her food!
Maybe next year she can enjoy her birthday more; hopefully I can make her a birthday cake and we will not spend a super long day flying across the world!! But I am really glad that we didn't have to miss out on her first birthday!!!
