Mommy got skin-to-skin time with Addyson while Daddy was holding Braden. We got to hold them for over an hour and both at the same time so we have our first family picture! We wished we could sit closer together but with all the machines and cords the babies can't get any further away from their boxes. We enjoyed relaxing with them and Daddy and Braden even napped together :)
Both kids are eating quite a bit more through their tubes and they keep increasing the amounts. Braden is doing well on the CPAP. Addyson's heart rate skips some times but she always catches herself before the nurses can even get there to help her. They say that is totally normal for as small as she is and that she is doing awesome. We talked to the respiratory nurse and she said it's very possible and normal that Braden may spend some more time on the vent and Addyson may get her CPAP back. It's not that they can't breathe the way they are now, but sometimes they just need a break so instead of using all their energy to concentrate on breathing they can use that energy to get bigger and stronger which is important too!
Both babies were weighed last night for the first time since they were born. Addyson lost 1 1/2 ounces and Braden lost 3 ounces. They didn't seem concerned about that!
So another good day! We got some short video clips of both Addyson and Braden. Just click on them to watch. Some of you may have heard that Wesley has a web cam for the babies that we can do. We checked into it but it is expensive and it's only short video clips - not like a web cam that you can check whenever to see what they're up to. So we'll just try to get more videos like we uploaded here so you can see them in action!
Thank you, thank you for keeping up with posting pictures and video. The kids loved the video of Addyson and it helps them to understand a little better of what is happening with you guys. We love you all so much and know that God is taking care of you. Please don't worry about calling us--you have enough to do. We do appreciate the blog posts but we don't worry if you haven't updated. Well, we try not to worry!!! We love that you are taking each day as it comes and that you are just enjoying your precious babies! We all can't wait until the whole family can be together but are so glad to see you having fun in this first week of being parents! While we have different memories of our first time, we remember the incredible love that just sweeps over you when you see and hold the gift God has given you. Amazing! We are so joyful with you as you experience that! And what a great reminder of God's love for us. I can't imagine the emotions you go through everyday (based on my own as I read your posts!)but I just know that God is carrying you through each and every day. He is good!
ReplyDeleteThanks also for the family picture that shows one of the "boxes". Some of those things are hard to explain but the pictures help!
Love you all,
Tami
