We are 1 week old!

Addyson

Braden --->

It's so hard to believe but today the twins are 1 week old! They are both doing so good!

Yesterday Braden went off of his CPAP - it was so good to be able to see his cute little face! We haven't seen it except for right after he was born before they hooked them up to all the machines. He seemed much happier without it! They had also been keeping both kids in the "midline" position which just means that their head, neck, and the rest of their body needed to be in a straight line. That helps put less pressure on their heads and brains to prevent brain bleeds. But now they have been allowed to have different positions! Braden especially did not like keeping his head straight so he seems so much more comfy. Both of them spent some time on their tummies last night.

Braden is getting stronger and is starting to act differently. He has his eyes open more and moves around a little more. He's still not the wiggleworm that his sister is but he is just a much happier boy. They say he will continue to improve as he gets stronger and doesn't have to work so hard.

Since both kids were breathing on their own they were able to move further away from their boxes. So we have an even better family pic now - it was fun to be able to sit close together. Braden got skin-to-skin time with mommy and daddy got his first experience of skin-to-skin with Addyson.

Braden lost a little bit of weight from the day before but Addyson started to gain weight which is exciting. Both of them really are doing well. We praise the Lord for all the little accomplishments they are both making every day - it is so exciting to watch them!

Some of you have asked about the "box" so here is a picture of what the NICU looks like.

Ryan and I were both pretty tired last night - we're trying to get into our new routine and I think still trying to catch up on sleep from the craziness of the last couple weeks. And as much as we try it just seems to get so late before we can leave our little babies there each night. So you can pray that we would be able to make time to rest.

It's so exciting to see such progress everyday, such miracles!!!! Cody said yesterday on our way home, "I bet Ryan's glad to be out working with the cattle and no "puked up" at th hospital. I told him the word is "cooped" up!!!! Hope you have a great evening the kiddos! Love, dccm wohlgemuth

  3. Sleep, sleep, sleep! Trust me, sleep while you can, because you are going to need the reserves. It's got to be hard to leave the little ones, but you have this blessing in disguise, that you are able to recover and rest while people take care of them at night. I encourage you to thank God for this, whether or not you feel particularly thankful for it, and take the offer.

    Still praying.
